Mrs. Rachel Yates, 69, died suddenly about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in Norfolk. Rachel Katherine Arp was born April 12, 1876 at Hanover, Germany to Deitrich and Rebecca Arp. At the age of 14 she came to America and resided at Clay Center, Nebraska. She was married on Dec. 31, 1891 to Alfred D. Yates and to this union 9 sons and daughters were born. She was survived by 6 sons and daughters: Ervin and Ray at Gering; Leslie and Mrs. Agnes Cunningham at Altadena, California; Sergt. Donald at Fort Shafter, Oahu, Hawaii; Miss Mildred at home; 1 sister Mrs. Lizzie White at Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 2 brothers: Gustave at Clay Center, Henry at Harvard. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 24, 1924; 2 sons: Merle, Harley, 1 daughter Pauline. The funeral was held Friday with burial in Prospect Hill cemetery.
