David Carmen Hutchison of Spalding, Saskatchewan died and is buried at Brookwood military cemetery near Woking, Surrey, England. Hutchison was wounded at Cambrai, and died of influenza at Bethnal Green hospital, London. He was the son of Joseph William and Pattie Lavinia Hutchison who came from Escott, Leeds Co., Ontario, to homestead near Spalding. They established the Spalding post office (see Geographic Names of Saskatchewan) in their home. David took his own homestead nearby but was a student at Regina college when he enlisted there early in 1916.
