The son of Andrew Jackson Stark and Ann "Lucinda" Smith, Oliver married Mary Ann "Molly" Wagaman on 06 Jan 1874 in Carroll County, Missouri. Their first 3 children were born in Rea Township in Carroll County, and Oliver worked there as a carpenter.

In the fall of 1880, the Starks decided to move closer to Oliver's parents in Barton County near Lamar, Missouri. Oliver, Molly and their 3 young children packed their belongings and made the trip in a overed wagon.

Even though their older daughter had just turned 4, she later told relatives that she remembered how much she and her sister had enjoyed the bonfires her father made that were used by her mother to cook their meals along the way.

Oliver built the family a house once they moved to Barton County. Tragically, less than a year after their arrival in Lamar, the Stark's youngest child, Francis, died in the summer of 1881 when he was 16-months-old. Their next baby, Charles, was born in 1882, but only lived for 8 months. After that, 7 of the next 8 children born to Oliver and Molly survived.

Oliver and Molly lived in the home he built for many years. He was employed as a construction foreman for the Kansas City Southern Railroad.

At the time of his death due to kidney disease, Oliver was 81 years, 6 months and 12 days old. He was buried on 14 Aug 1935 and was survived by his wife, Molly, who passed away in 1936.
