Benjamin (Monte) Allen, 82

Funeral services for Benjamin (Monte) Allen, 82, of Spirit Lake, were held Wednesday, April 27,1983, 10 a.m., at the Donovan-Leyson Chapel, in Spirit Lake, with Rev. Warren Paige officiating. Allen died Sunday, April 24, 1983, at the Hilltop Care Center, in Spirit Lake.

Mary Lou Ayres provided the music. Pallbearers were John Molitor, LaVerne Schnell, William Baxter, Duain Olson, Jerry Erickson, Melvin Sitz, and Elmer Bringelson. Interment was in the Lakeview Cemetery, in Spirit Lake.

Benjamin Wilmont Allen was born to Addle and Benjamin Allen at Laurens, la., on Oct. 1, 1900. He attended school at Laurens, la., graduating in 1920. He attended St. John's Military Academy and was graduated from Iowa State University in 1924 with a degree in agriculture. While in college, he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, a life time member of the Masonic Order and a member of the First United Methodist Church, in Spirit Lake.

Survivors include three children: Mrs. John (Christina) Cochrane of Kirksville, Mo.; Mrs. William (Winifred) Shuttleworth of Cedar Rapids, la.; and Benjamin Allen of Jacksonville, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

The Donovan-Leyson Funeral Home, in Spirit Lake, was in charge of arrangements
