BETTY J. COLVIN
WAYNESBORO - Betty Jane (Fitzgerald) Colvin, 68, formerly of 1315 Ohio St., died Friday afternoon (Aug. 11, 2000) at Avante Nursing Home.
She was born April 13, 1932, in Staunton, a daughter of George W. Fitzgerald and Edith Stewart (Smith) Fitzgerald Lotts.
She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Finley H. Lotts.
She was retired from the Kroger Co. with 37 years of service and was an active member of the Waynesboro Free Methodist Church and the AARP of Waynesboro Chapter 4393.
Survivors include a son, Alan Dale Bartley of Fairfield a brother and sister-in-law, Stuart W. and Julia Fitzgerald of Staunton one sister and brother-in-law, Lorine F. and Elmer K. Van Fossen of Stuarts Draft many nieces and nephews a special cousin, Mary Faye Cason of Staunton and special friends, Phil and Lois Snyder and John and Barbara Kemp, all of Waynesboro.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel W. Fitzgerald, in 1982.
A service will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday in Hamrick Funeral Home by the Rev. Keith Hulton with burial in Thornrose Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Danny McCormick, Dwight Cason, Tim and Phil Snyder, Frank Roetta, Fred Abshire and Johny Kincaid.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Kemp, Tom Bryant, Elmer K. Van Fossen, Tim Gorden and Ted Bower.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
