JONATHAN, eldest child of Roger & Mary (Johnson) Mowry, was baptized at Salem 2 April 1637 [SChR 16]. He married (1) at Plymouth 8 July 1659 Mary (Bartlett) Foster, widow of Richard Foster and daughter of ROBERT BARTLETT [PCR 8:22; TAG 32:193-96, 53:154-56]; m. (2) say 1694 Hannah (Pincen) (Young) Witherell, daughter of Thomas Pincen [TAG 32:194-95]. A death date for him: May 19,1708 in Plymouth. (From Mayflower Families, Vol 18)Little is known of the generation of Jonathan Morey.

At the time of his parents removal to Rhode Island, Jonathan Morey was about sixteen years old.

He chose to remain at Plymouth, or soon removed from Salem to that town, for it was there he spent his life.

He and his wife appear to have lived quietly in Plymouth, his name appearing only a few times in the records, once with others for non-payment of rent for grazing lands, another as a juryman in 1682, and again when he defended an Indian, William Connett, accused of trespass, resulting in the jury finding the land in question was owned by the Indian.

Will probated 16 Jun 1708 Plymouth.
