Sr Marguerite Daly IHM, Age 86, died May 8, 2010 at her home, the IHM Sisters Motherhouse in Monroe, in the Health Care Center. She has been under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe.

Sr Marguerite was one of four children, three boys and one girl of Philip and Marguerite (Ginzel) Daly. She was born November 28, 1923, and given the name Marguerite. Marguerite attended Visitation, Detroit, and St Patrick, Wyandotte, elementary schools and graduated from St. Patrick High School in Wyandotte. She became a member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Monroe in 1942, taking the religious name of Sr Ann Philip.

Sr Marguerite earned a Bachelor's degree from Marygrove College and a Master's degree from Wayne State University, Detroit. She taught in formal education for 33 years at St Matthew, Flint; Holy Rosary, St Thomas Aquinas, St. Boniface and St. Vincent, Detroit; St Peter Claver, Mobile, Ala.; St Cyprian, Riverview, and St Timothy, Trenton.

In 1978, Marguerite left formal teaching and became administrator of Hospitality House in Detroit which was converted from the Immaculata High School convent. She administered there for four years before becoming treasurer for the IHM overseas missions and working in the IHM Library at the Motherhouse. In 1985, Marguerite became the administrator of "Pagani," the hospitality section of the Motherhouse where sisters could hold meetings, stay overnight, etc. She continued to work in the library. She ministered in this position for 14 years, graciously, faithfully and generously. Marguerite retired in 1999 and entered the Health Care Center in 2001 where she resided until her death.

Sr Marguerite is survived by her sisters in the IHM community as well as her brother, the Rev Simeon Daly OSB, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard and Thomas.

Visitation will be held at the IHM Motherhouse, 610 W Elm Avenue, Monroe on Monday, May 10, from 2 until 7:30 pm with a Remembering at 3 pm. The funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel on Tuesday at 10 am, with Rev Simeon Daly OSB, as presider. Burial will follow in St Mary Cemetery on the Motherhouse Campus. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home, Monroe.
