Located on the grounds of the Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The beginnings of the order came about in 1845 shortly after Rev Louis Florent Gillet C.Ss.R., arrived in Monroe MI to become the pastor of St Mary Parish. Fr Gillet found that Monroe had no school for the daughters of the descendants of French Canadians, most of whom were Catholic. Fr Gillet petitioned the local bishop, Rev Peter Paul Lefevere, Bishop of Detroit, for a religious order to assume teaching duties. The bishop declined, so Fr Gillet invited three women; Mother Marie Theresa Duchemin, Mother Theresa Maxis Duchemin, Charlotte Schaaf (Sr Mary Ann), and Theresa Renauld (Sr Mary Celestine);to form a new religious congregation, which would become known as the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The Motherhouse is still located in Monroe MI. The IHM Sisters of Monroe are interred at St Marys Cemetery located within their property.
