Florence Maude Cooke Hunt returned to our Heavenly Father on January 25, 1974, in Crescent, Utah, following a short illness. She was born, to parents, Alfred E. and Julia Annie Cooke on Sept. 12, 1891 in Stroud, Gloucester, England. While growing up in the Cotswolds, she developed a deep love for her seven younger sisters and two younger brothers. She was baptized at the age of eight years old into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She acquired an abiding love for the Lord Jesus Christ and His gospel. She worked in the munitions factories in England during World War I. She served as a missionary in Bristol, England, in 1918. And in 1920, she immigrated to the United States, leaving all but one of her beloved family in England, never seeing many of them again. She married Albert James Hunt in 1920, in the Salt Lake Temple. Five children were born during the next 15 years. Sons George, Lawrence and Melvin. Then daughters, Rebecca and Alena. In 1938, tragedy struck the family, as her oldest son was killed in a school bus/train accident. After the death of her dear husband in 1946, she served many years as a temple patron in the Salt Lake Temple. She was always looking for ways to serve her fellowmen and did so in many and numerous ways. She held many positions of service in her church. One of the highlights of her life was when her daughter, Rebecca, took her back to England in June of 1971, after an absence of over 50 years. She was an avid genealogist and enjoyed reading, music, sewing, animals and flowers.
