"Rites Noted for Mrs Mary Beck"

West Branch - Funeral services held this afternoon for Mrs Mary Beck, 72, lifelong resident here, who died at University Hospital, Iowa City, Tuesday, after a four years illness. Services were at the Anderson funeral home with the Rev Bernard Olson, pastor of the Methodist Church in charge, Burial was in Cedar Bluffs Cemetery. Mary Vittengl Beck was born on January 24, 1878 near West Branch the daughter of James and Rose Bebber Vittengl. April 25, 1900 she was married to Guy Beck of Cedar Valley near here, in a ceremony at Tipton. The couple, who had lived in this community, moved to West Branch two years ago. There were the parents of 6 children. Mrs Beck is survived by her husband; 3 daughters, Mrs Rose Pearson, Prentice, Wisc, Mrs Edith Arneson, Muscoda, Wisc, and Mrs Jessie Slach, West Branch; 3 sons, Roy, of Dillion, CO, Russel of near Marion, IA and Sam, of Milwaukee, Wisc. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, Adolph Vittengl of Marshalltown, and a sister Mrs Christina Achey of Wilton.
