MUSCODA - Edith E. Arneson, age 81, of Muscoda died on Wednesday, November 4, 1992 in Saint Mary's Hospital in Madison. She was born on February 24, 1911 in Plato, Iowa, the daughter of Guy E and Mary (Vittingle) Beck. She married Edwin Arneson on August 17, 1928. He preceded her in death on February 21, 1948.
She was a former counselor at the Wisconsin School for Girls in Oregon, Wisconsin. She was a member of Saint Peter's Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid L.W.M.L. of the church. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years and a 4-H leader.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty (Mrs. Wayne) Dieter, and Edwina (Mrs. John) Melby, both of Muscoda; three sons, Kenneth (Eleanor) Arneson of Neilsville, Larry Eugene (Jeanette) Arneson of Muscoda, and Rodney A (Nancy) Arneson of Middleton; one sister, Jesse Slach of West Branch, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Michelle Bomkamp, Denlse (Steve) Bomkamp, Mina (Tony) Esser, Darla and Brian Dieter, Rebecca, Amanda, and Lindsey Melby, Edwin (Leah) and Eric Arneson, Heidi Marie and Edie E Arneson; six great grandchildren, Nicole, Andrea, and Korina Bomkamp, Lukas and Quinten Esser, and Beniamin Arneson as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Ward Ronald Arneson; her parents; a grandson, Michael John Melby; three brothers, Roy, Sam and Russell Beck; and one sister, Rosie Plarson.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, rural Avoca.
