Helen D. Meiselwitz Stumpf

Henry D. Meiselwitz Stumpf, age 92, of 817 Sixth St., Kiel, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000. Funeral services will be held at First Presbyterian church, Kiel, with the Rev. Maricia Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Kiel City Cemetery.
The daughter of the late Carl J. and Wilhelmina Zimmermann Meiselwitz she was born Helen Meiselwitz on Aug. 30, 1907 in Kiel.

Helen attended Kiel Grade School and was a 1925 graduate of Kiel High School. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1929. Helen also attended summer sessions for continued education of UW-Oshkosh in 1959-60. On Feb. 9, 1942, Helen married Carl Stumpf in Dubuque, Iowa. He preceded her in death Jan. 26, 1995.

She taught at Wonewoc, Wis., from 1929 – 1930. Helen then taught English and German at Shawano High School for 13 years. She was a librarian at Kiel High School for 11 years. Helen retired from teaching in 1972.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Women, Kiel; Area Study Club, Kiel; VFW Auxiliary; Kiel Historical Society, Manitowoc County Retired Teachers Association; Wisconsin Education Society; and American Legion Unit 99 Auxiliary where she was a member of 54 years and past president.

Survivors include her three sons, Carl (Sharyn), Middleton, Wis.; John (Elaine), Kiel; Peter (Cynthia), Thorton, Colo. She is further survived by nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by two brothers, Adolph and Henry Meiselwitz, and two sisters, Henrietta and Wilhelmina.
