for Minnie Knapp
Mrs. Minnie Ann Knapp, age 85 years, passed away on Thursday June 25, 1959 at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon where she had been a patient for three weeks.
She was born October 2, 1873, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac N. Jones, in Ottumwa. At the age of two she moved with her parents to Allerton, where she grew to womanhood. On Oct. 11, 1891 she was united in marriage to William Knapp. Seven children were born to this union. Mr. Knapp preceded her in death in 1953.
Early in life she became a loyal and faithful servant of Christ and was affiliated with the Methodist church.
Surviving her are seven children. Five daughters, Mrs. Esther Seidler of Jamaica, Iowa; Mrs. Margaret Landstrom of Des Moines; Mrs. Alberta Cruikshank of Des Moines; Mrs. Hazel Whiteley of Corydon; Mrs. Helen Williams of Yakima, Wash.; Floyd Knapp of Des Moines and William Knapp of Allerton, twenty-four grandchildren, forty-three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, three sisters Mrs. Rhoda O'Dell of Long Island, N.Y.; Mrs. Clara Baker of Gravity, Iowa and Mrs. Lola Lewellan of St. Joseph, Mo., three brothers, Bert Jones of Kansas City, Mo.; Wilbur Jones of Clarinda, Iowa and Ray Jones of Cherokee, Iowa.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 28, at 2:30 p.m. from the Randolph Funeral home in Allerton with Rev. Mark Weston of the Corydon Methodist church, officiating. Pallbearers were six of her grandsons, James Whiteley, Donald Cruikshank, Paul Knapp, William Knapp, Wayne Roquet-grandson-in-law and Lloyd Cawthorn. Interment was in the Allerton cemetery.
