FARRIS, Mildred Gardner, 86, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2001 at Friendship Manor Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late William Isaac Jones Gardner and Ida Mae Gardner.

She worked at the former Roanoke Mills, and was a member of Oakland Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry C. Farris; a brother, Lawrence Gardner; and two sisters, Geraldine Tabor and Evelyn Hilbert.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Linda and Eddie Prillaman of Troutville, Betty and Terry McVey of Vinton and Bobby and Kathy Farris of Salem; brothers and sister, William and James Gardner of Woodlawn and Janie G. Taylor of Belfry, Ky.; grandchildren, Lesley and Tracy Prillaman, Chris and Amy McVey and Will and Katie Farris and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at Sherwood Memorial Park on Tuesday, September 11, 2001 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends on Monday, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Oakey's North Chapel.
