OFFENBURGER

Randall Ross Offenburger was born on Jan. 28, 1908 at Lacona, Iowa, the son of Henry and Myrtle (Smith) Offenburger. He died at the Chariton Manor on Feb. 27, 1993 at the age of 85 years and 30 days.

The oldest of five children, he attended the Lacona schools, moving to Lucas County as a young adult. Randall owned and operated his own auto repair business in Chariton for many years.

Randall entered the U.S. Army on April 22, 1942, serving in the Aleutian Islands and Germany, being honorably discharged on Oct. 9, 1945. His decorations and citations included European-African and Middle Eastern ribbons with two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Theater ribbon with one Bronze Star.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ed Offenburger. He is survived by his brother, Neil and wife, Vivian of Woodburn; two sisters, Mary New of Corydon and Sylvia and husband Delbert Hull of Chariton; nine nephews and their families and many other friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 2 at 1:30 p.m. at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Pastor Dennis St. Lawrence officiating. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Roy New, Richard New, Don Offenburger, Larry Offenburger, Ed Hull and David Offenburger.
