Voneta F. Arnold Marcus, 77, of Lafayette, died at 6:05 PM Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. She had been in failing health since 1998. Born Dec. 12, 1927, in Clarenden, Texas, she had lived in Lafayette for the past 45 years. She graduated from Plainview (Texas) High school and attended Wayland Baptist College, also in Plainview. She married Joseph J. Marcus on Feb. 10, 1950, in Lubbock, Texas. He died Oct. 25, 2005. Mrs. Marcus had been an executive secretary for National Homes Acceptance Corp., then worked at Purdue National Bank, and she was a homemaker. She was a member of the former Fellowship Bible Church. Her hobbies were cooking, sewing and water aerobics. Surviving are three daughters, Susan E. Braaksma (husband: Marty) of Lafayette, Melissa A. Tipton (husband: Rusty) of Frisco, Texas, and Maureen Holt (husband: Dave) of Orlando, Fla.; three sons, Greg Marcus of Scranton, Pa., A. Brent Marcus (wife: Cynthia) of Lafayette and Russell J. Marcus (wife: Sabrina) of Dayton, Ind.; and a sister, Lois Walker (husband: Roy Mack) of Silverton, Texas.
