MISS ELLA GOOKIN

With deep regret we note the passing away of Miss Ella Gookin, daughter of Samuel and Lydia A. Gookin, which occurred at the home of her sister, Mrs. Charles White on Monday, August 12, 1929, where she was tenderly cared for through a lingering illness of seven weeks. She was born May 7th, 1869 in Lucas county, Iowa.

Largely attended funeral services, conducted by her pastor, Rev. E. L. Stone, were held at the M. E. church on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, after which she was laid to rest in the Chariton cemetery. The floral tributes were profuse and beautiful and bore testimony to the high regard in which she was held.

Miss Gookin and Miss Alia White have shared the same home for more than twenty-five years. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Those left to mourn her loss are Mrs. J. V. Holmes, of Riverside, Calif., Mrs. G. C. Holmes, of Lincoln, Nebraska, Andy Gookin, of Des Moines, John Gookin of Lacrosse, Wisconsin, Mrs. Charles White, Mrs. L. L. Keller, and Mrs. J. D. Threlkeld, all of Chariton, Iowa.

Sister Gookin united with the Salem Methodist church at the age of sixteen years and has ever been a faithful member. She was a kind and loving sister, a noble woman in every sense of the word, loved by all who knew her, and her demise has brought sadness to many hearts. The sympathy of the community will be extended to all the bereaved ones.
