Dietrich Ramseur immigrated to Lancaster Co., PA in Oct. 1727, departing Rotterdam on the "Adventure Galley" He was born in 1690. When he arrived in this country, their name was spelled RAHMSAUER. Dietrich moved to Lincoln Co., NC in Aug. 1753, buying 600 acres of land.
The 1850 US Census for North Carolina, shows the family living in Lincoln Co., NC among all their kinfolk.
Joshua Stafford, Jr. was living in Brooksville, Hernando Co., Florida and they were married 12 Jan. 1865 in Brooksville.
Joshua served in the Confederacy as did four of Sallie's brothers, so it is possible that they met during this time. No record has been found as to when exactly Sallie's family moved to Florida. One of her brothers served with the Georgia infantry.
The 1870 US Census, Sallie and her family were still in Brooksville, Hernando Co., Florida. Sallie and Joshua and their children remained in Brooksville until ca 1880.

At the time of his passing, he was married to Emma Sorrels Stafford (m. 1910), a farmer & minister & resided in Copperas Cove, TX. They are buried at Copperas Cove Cem., Copperas Cove, TX; Memorial 64822040.
Note: Sallie's sister, Barbara Elizabeth "Betsy" Hedick, married William Thomas Collier in 1849 in Lincoln Co., NC. Betsy and William spent their last years in Marco, Collier Co., Florida and are buried in the Marco Island Cemetery.
