He was a ship welder and usually worked on barges on the Ohio River.
He helped to repair the John P. Snyder Paddle wheeler housed at the Marietta Museum.
5. 1975-198? Worked as maintenance man and house/yard sitter in Elyria Ohio.
Gill G. Neal, 89, Thurman, died Monday, Oct 6, 1997 in Holzer Medical Center.
Born Feb. 4, 1908 in Putnam County, W.Va. he was a retired electric welder for the Marietta Manufacturing Co. in Point Pleasant, W.Va.
He was also a member of the Centerville Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Freda Simpson Neal, whom he married in September 1932; three sons, Gay Ernest Neal of Xenia, Ray Eugene Neal of Columbus, and Charles Dorsal Neal of New Albany(Indiana); a daughter, Ruth Alice Cheesebrew of Columbus; 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild; and three brothers, Henry Neal and Ortho Neal, both of Point Pleasant, and Greely Neal of Gallipolis.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, six sisters and two grandsons.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with the Rev. Herman Jordan officiating. Burial will be in the Centerpoint Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday.
