IRA LEROY GUERNSEY
Ira Leroy Guernsey was born in Appanoose county, Iowa on August 28, 1868. He was the son of John B. and Lucy M. Guernsey. He passed away in the Harken hospital at Osceola, Iowa on August 1, 1950, after an illness of three weeks.
He was a graduate of Iowa State College at Ames. For many years he engaged in school work in Corydon, New London and Chariton.
His wife, Cora P. Guernsey, passed away in 1919, and his son, Bronson, in 1949. He is survived by his daughter, Hortense, daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sylvia Guernsey, three grandchildren, John, Dan and Carol and two brothers, John and Seymour.
Funeral services on Thursday, August 3, at two o'clock were conducted at the Miley Funeral Home by the Rev. Russell Shaw, of the Presbyterian church. Burial was in the Chariton cemetery.
The pall bearers were Charles M. Dunn, Lee Harrington, O. L. Hutchinson, Ron Levis, Porter Smyth and Joe Wright.
