Marie Valérie "Malvina" Ruel, the daughter of Hubert Ruel and Marie Marceline Goulet, was born and baptized on 1 Aug 1876 in Sainte Claire, Dorchester, Québec, Canada. She immigrated with her family to the United States about 1893 and settled in Somersworth, Strafford, New Hampshire. Malvina married Joseph Thomas Lessard, son of George Antoine Lessard and Délia Vachon, in Somersworth on 7 Feb 1898. They had two children, and Malvina was widowed in 1901 when she was just 25 years old. She then married widower Auguste Bouchard, son of Joseph Bouchard and Adélaide Morin, on 11 Feb 1904 in Somersworth. They were the parents together of twelve children, six sons and six daughters, including 2 sets of twins. Including the children from both of their first marriages, Malvina raised sixteen children. She was with her widowed father Hubert Ruel at the time of his death in 1930. My g-g-aunt Malvina died in New Hampshire, and was buried in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Somersworth.

Sources include the Drouin Collection, census records, New Hampshire marriage records, and my family copy of the 1942 Généalogie de la Famille Goulet-Ruel.
