Hubert Ruel, son of Flavien Ruel and Marie Josephte Lemelin, was born on 4 Nov 1841 in Saint Anselme, Dorchester, Québec, Canada and baptized the following day at Saint Gervais, Bellechasse, Québec. He married Marie Marceline Goulet, daughter of Joseph Goulet and Marguerite Bouchard, on 16 Oct 1871 at Sainte Claire, Dorchester. They had 15 children, nine of whom survived to adulthood. He immigrated with his family to the United States about 1893 and settled in Somersworth, Strafford, New Hampshire. Two of his daughters married diplomats, including one who was knighted for his service to England, Sir Godfrey Digby Napier Haggard. My g-g-grandfather Hubert was widowed in 1928. He died at age 89 and was interred in Mount Calvary Cemetery on 11 Nov 1930.
