Marie Amanda Ruel, daughter of Hubert Ruel and Marie Marceline Goulet, was born on 3 Mar 1875 in Sainte Claire, Dorchester, Québec, Canada. She was baptized the following day. Amanda immigrated with her family to Somersworth, Strafford, New Hampshire about 1893. She married Alfred Desjardins, son of Joseph Desjardins and Démerise Lebel, in Somersworth on 27 May 1895. Amanda and Alfred had fifteen children, nine sons and six daughters. Seven of their children died very young. Their youngest child was ordained as a priest in 1942. However, Amanda never lived to witness it. My g-g-aunt died suddenly in Somersworth on 25 Mar 1927 at the age of 52. She was buried in Mount Calvary Cemetery on 28 Mar 1927.
