Osawatomie -- Joyce Marie Atchison, 58, Osawatomie, died Friday, March 22, 2002, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. She was born Nov. 21, 1943, in Walker, Kan., to John Thomas and Margaret Irene (Riedel) Baumstimler.
Funeral services were this morning at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, Osawatomie. Her body was cremated.
She married Richard Leroy Atchison on Oct. 19, 1963, at Emporia. He died Dec. 3, 1982.
She graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1961. She lived in many towns due to her husband's military career. She was a homemaker and was employed for a time at the Ball Glass Plant in Chicago.
She is survived by a son, Jerome Atchison, Conifer, Colo.; a daughter Jolene Brumagin, Union City, Pa.; by her mother, Margaret Irene Johnston, Osawatomie; a brother, John Thomas Baumstimler, Virginia Beach, Va.; five sisters, Juanita "Nita" Sue Harter, Osawatomie, Judith Ann Shultz, Wichita Falls, Texas, Mary Jane Couture, Oakland, Maine, Jodi Rae Alley, Pratt, and Jenice Evans, Blairstown, Mo.; and three grandchildren.
