Betty June Lucas, 80, of Fairview Drive died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2006, in North Vernon.
Mrs. Lucas had been a Girl Scout and Brownie leader, was past president of Bartholomew County Senior Center and currently served on the board of directors. Betty was Past President of TOPS and she was the recipient of the Bartholomew Senior Volunteer Award in 2005. She was a member of the Ostomy Club, Day Lilly Club, Red Hat Society, CB Club 35 and Red Hat Mamas.
She was a line-dance instructor and lead vocalist with 2nd Time Around band and enjoyed gardening.
Born in Burn City June 30, 1925, Mrs. Lucas was the daughter of Caswell and Lydia Williams Bowman. She married Norman L. Lucas Feb. 15, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Survivors include a son, Ed (Rena) Bishop of North Vernon; grandchildren, Troy, Joe and Scott Bishop and Lora Hall; 13 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlena Lucas Abner; a brother, Ermel Bowman; and sisters, Lela Wolfe and Esther Carroll.


Funeral Information

FUNERAL: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2006 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Virgil Clotfelter officiating.

VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday; March 24, 2006

BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery.
