Clovis M. Rainey, age 74, died Wednesday, August 20, 1997 in Wellington.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 22, 1997 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Randall Scott, pastor of the Immanuel Baptist Church, Paris, officiating.

Burial was in Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Benson Long, Dale Tarver, Mark Tarver, Herbert Bearden, John Holton and Clifford Throne.

Born August 23, 1922 in Collingsworth County to J. Collins and Lou Ella Fulcher Scott, she graduated with the Wellington High School Class of 1939. She was married to John Rainey on December 26, 1940 in Wellington. He died in 1990.

Mrs. Rainey was a dispatcher for the Collingsworth County Sheriff's office for ten years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxillary and the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two sons, Mike Rainey and Jerry Rainey, both of Garland; two sisters, Vera Minter of Lefors and Lottie Hall of Pensylvania; three grandchildren, Miche Norris of McKinney and John and Jordon Rainey of Garland.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
