The Wellington Leader  July 30, 1970

Mrs. J. C. Scott, who had lived in the county 55 years, died in St. Joseph's Hospital at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, July 26. She was 83 years old.  For a number of years she and her family lived in the Samnorwood area, where she reared her children. After her husband retired from active farming, they moved to Wellington.  A woman of quiet friendliness, Mrs. Scott was recognized wherever she lived for the concern she showed for those about her. She became a Baptist in early life, and as long as she was able, she was active in the church's work. Born June 24, 1887, at Hico, she was the former Luella Fulcher, daughter of John S. and Narcisis Fulcher. She was married to J. C. Scott on Aug 20, 1906, at Bronte. He preceded her in death April 10, 1960.

Survivors are three daughters and three sons: Mrs. Curtis Hall of Dumas, Mrs. Buford Minter of Lefors, Mrs. John Rainey, R. P. Scott and Ocie L. Scott of Wellington, and J. C. Scott, Jr., of Wichita Falls. There are 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
