Undated 1944 Winnfield newspaper MRS. A. CAMPBELL, OLDEST RESIDENT OF WINN PARISH, DIES The death of Mrs. Ann Campbell, 98, ended the life of the oldest resident of Winn parish. She died suddenly Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at the home of her son, J.W. Campbell, in Winnfield, where she has resided for the past seven years. Mrs. Campbell is the last of the Smith brothers and sister trio, whose birthdays were given much celebration each year because of the lengthy spans of their lives. Her brothers, Perce Smith, who died three years ago, was 93 years of age, and John Smith, who died last year, was 99 years of age. Although Aunt Ann was blind and deaf the last two years of her life, she was always cheerful. Four wars took place during her lifetime, and it was at the end of the Civil War, in 1864 that she married William Huey Campbell a native of Jackson parish and who preceded her in death many years ago. For eighty years she was a member of the Fellowship Baptist church of Winn parish. She was born in Mississippi. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial was beside her husband at the Mineral Springs cemetery, near Sikes. Rev. Calvin Robinson of Laurel Heights, Rev. Alwin Stokes and Judge Cas Moss, all of Winnfield, conducted the services under the direction of the Edmonds Funeral Home, Jonesboro. Mrs. Campbell is survived by three sons J.W. Campbell of Winnfield, J.H. Campbell of Epps, La., Adam campbell of Mangham, La; four daughters, Mrs. George Walker, Mrs Sarah Jane Thompson, both of Sikes, Mrs. Tom N. Burnett of Gaars Mill, and Mrs, Sam Pepper of Jonesboro; and sixty-six grandchildren

Mrs. Ann Campbell Dies at Age of 98 at Son's Home Tues. Funeral Held Thursday P.M. at Mineral Springs Mrs. Ann Campbell, who observed her 98th birthday on August 10, this year, died at the home of her son, J. W. Campbell here Tuesday afternoon at four-thirty o'clock. She was the last member of the Smith family, natives of Winn parish who lived far beyond three score years and ten. Her brother, John Smith, had reached the age of 98 when he died about a year ago, and another brother, Percy F. Smith, died at the age of 96. She was a member of the Mineral Springs Baptist church with which she united 81 years ago. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Mineral Springs church conducted by the Rev. Alwin Stokes and the Rev. Calvin Roberson of Winnfield. Surviving her are three sons, J. W. Campbell, Winnfield, J. A. Campbell, Epps, Rev. W. A. Campbell, Mangham; four daughters, Mrs. S. J. Pepper, Jonesboro, Mrs. George Walker, Mrs. F. J. Thompson, Sikes, and Mrs. T. N. Burnett, Gaars Mill.
