Born in Lynchburg, Aug. 20, 1926, he was a son of the late Leonard C. and Mary Harris Arthur. Mr. Arthur was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was retired from Lynchburg Foundry and was a member of Fairview Christian Church. He was a devoted husband, father and caregiver for his wife.
Mr. Arthur is survived by two sons, Gary Mitchell Arthur and his wife, Nancy, of Lynchburg, and Patrick Dennis Arthur, of Charlottesville; one brother, Bill Arthur, of Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Blake Arthur and Jeff Arthur.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Fairview Christian Church by the Rev. Jack Hamilton. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, with military honors by American Legion Post 16.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, April 12, 2010, at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel.
