Mrs Ahrens, in County Since 1868, Succumbs

Mrs F A Ahrens, a resident of Marshall county, since 1868, passed away at her home, 208 South Center street, at 9:20 o'clock Sunday evening, of arterio sclerosis. Mrs Ahrens had been in failing health the past two months.

She was born Lena Riemenschneider, in Brunswick, Germany, Feb 10, 1860. She came to America and directly to State Center in 1868. She was married to Mr Ahrens Nov 1, 1877, at State Center and they made their home in State Center until 1910, when they moved to Marshalltown.

She was confirmed in the Lutheran church at the age of 15 years and was a member of Electric Rebekah lodge No. 331. She is survived by Mr Ahrens, three daughters, Mrs L E Noble, Rhodes; Mrs Oscar Moore, Peoria, Ill.; and Mrs Charles Richards, Melbourne; and two sons, Fred Ahrens of Laurel and Ernest Ahrens of Marshalltown. Nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.

Private funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning from the Estel funeral home in charge of Mrs Elizabeth Grokowsky, pastor of the First Spiritual church. The body will be at the Estel funeral home until the time for the service.
