Murray Kersbergen Funeral To Be In California

Funeral services for Murray Earl Kersbergen, 67, West Plains, will be held in California. The body will lie in state from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains.

Mr Kersbergen drown about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday in Arrowhead Lake near his home south of West Plains.

He was born Aug. 10, 1915, in Pella Iowa, the son of the late Henry and Catherine Wichhart Kersbergen.
He received his education in the schools of Pella Iowa and on Jan. 11, 1978, he was married at Las Vegas, NV., to Margaret Lucille King. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Navy in the South Pacific Theatre of Operations. Mr. Kersbergen was a truck driver for 40 years for the Yellow Frieght Line, and he was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in the state of Arizona. He had been of the Christian Reform Church of Pella, Iowa, since childhood.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Kersbergen, of the home; two children, Bert Kersbergen,West Covina, Calif.; Mrs. Donald (Patricia) Obert, Covina, Calif.; one step son, Thomas Van Ekeren, Oskaloosa, Iowa; three grandchildren; one step grandson; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Burial will be in Rose Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, Whittier, Calif.
