Bio

Have been researching the Miers, Tarpley, Shrader, Grigsby, Beale, Smith, McKinsey, Lake, Norrill, Cox names since 1981. Also, my searches include my husband's lines including Bayly, Beers, Rice, Muller. I live in So. CA, near Rose Hills Memorial Park (just over one of the hills to the south) and would like to help anyone find information about ancestors buried there.

Besides genealogical research, I love to sew; work in our yard (collect Iris bulbs and have many from my old back yard in Dallas, TX); love gourmet coffee; dark chocolate; and cats. My husband (of 40+ years) and I have two grown daughters, three granddaughters, and two grandsons.

I have been a member of the Whittier Area Genealogical Society for thirty+ years. Anyone reading this is invited to our monthly meetings. WAGS, as it is lovingly called by members, meets at 1:00 at the Whittier Masonic Lodge at the corner of Greenleaf & Mar Vista Streets, in Whittier, every third Saturday, all twelve months of every year. VISITORS ALWAYS WELCOME! Park in the back and come in the back door. I am usually at the sign-in table ... unless we are on our once a year vacation to Colorado.

My parents are buried at Rose Hills, as well as my husband's father, two grandmothers, sister-in-law, and an aunt & uncle of one of his grandmothers. Most of my relatives (other than my parents) and ancestors are buried in Texas and Arkansas. Only a great-grandmother (in 1905) and myself (in 1959) left Texas. I guess we were the wanderers. I was named after her.

(In my wonderings through Rose Hills Mem. Pk. for Find A Grave, I have been collecting photos of Veterans of WWI back to Civil War, and adding them to separate Virtual Cemeteries. You are welcome to check them out. I will be happy to transfer them to any family.)
