Frances Elizabeth Close Elmore was born in Green County, Kentucky September 4, 1826 to George Washington Close and Rebecca Beams. Moved to Illinois with her parents when she was about age 6. She grew up in Menard County and met and married Peter Elmore there about 1854. Peter was born in Illinois about 1829. He is believed to be the son of Peter Elmore, born in 1795 in North Carolina as he was living with Peter and Frances in Menard County at age 65. She married him November 27, 1853 in Petersburg, Menard County, Illinois. she died February 4, 1905 in Spearville, Ford County, Kansas and is buried in the Silent Land Cemetery.
