To the circuit court of the County of Madison, State of Iowa, the petition of F. B. Close of the township of Scott in the said County of Madison McGrady Close died in the County of Madison on or about the 19 day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and 69. That at the time of his death, he was an inhabitant of the County of Madison that he left no will, as far as your petitioner has heard, or been able to discover. That he left a Widow (Susannah E. Spurgin) and six minor children, personal property, but no real estate. That his widow declines to act as administrator and requests that the descendents brother, your petitioner be appointed to administrator the said estate. and your petitioner further showeth, that all the goods, chattels, and credits of the said descendent do not exceed in value the sum of one thousand dollars and your petitioner prays that letters of administration of the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased may be granted by the circuit court to you petitioner.
