Lillie Margaret Hylton Burnett, oldest daughter of Hardin and Alice Lettie Dickerson Hylton was born June 24, 1892, in Mansfield, Douglas County, Mo., and passed away January 3, 1981, at the Morris County Hospital, Council Grove, Ks. At the age of eight, she came to Kansas with her family in a covered wagon. She grew up in Council Grove attending local schools and was baptized in Neosho river by the Rev. Blackledge of the Baptist church.
On April 12, 1911, she was united in marriage to Edward Amos Burnett at Council Grove, Ks. They lived all of their married years in the Council Grove community except for two years near Plainville, Ks., and celebrated their Golden Anniversary in 1961. To this union was born three sons and three daughters.
She was a kind and loving wife and mother who enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, and handcrafts. Friends were always welcome and she especially enjoyed having her family with her. She will be remembered for the many ways she touched each of their lives of all who knew her.
Surviving are three daughters, Jessie Williams and Alice Page, Council Grove, Doris Garret, Wichita, Ks.; three sons, Linus, Eldale, Ks. Alfred and Kenneth, Council Grove; three daughters-in-law and one son-in-law; four sisters, Ella Ryman, Dunlap, Ks., Maude Waters and Dorothy Blankley, Council Grove, and Laura Koski, Lead, S. Dakota; three brothers Owen Hylton, Carmel Valley, Calif., Ralph and George Hylton, Salt Lake City, Utah; twenty-two grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962, her parents, two sons-in-laws, Neil Williams and Harding Page, two granddaughters and one grandson, three sisters and three brothers.
Service were conducted at the Kendall Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Steve Langhofer officiating 2 p.m., January 5, 1981. Casket bearers were her grandsons. Interment was in Greenwod Cemetery, Council Grove, Ks.
