Alice Ruth Page, 97, of Council Grove, KS, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2010, at the Morris County Hospital.
She was born July 1, 1913, to Edward and Lillie (Hylton) Burnett, in Council Grove, KS.
Alice married Hardin Marcellus Page on February 11, 1943, in Carlsbad, NM. He preceded her in death in February 1968.
Over the years, she owned a restaurant, and also worked at the Fairmont Creamery and the Peter Pan Ice Cream Store. She later worked as a checker at the Council Grove IGA for over 30 years.
Alice was a member of the Council Grove United Methodist Church, of which she was actively involved. She loved her church family and friends. She also loved fishing and traveling. She traveled extensively in the US as well as overseas. Alice was the glue which held her large family together. She was always the first to help, no matter what the need be. She will be greatly missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Linus Burnett, Alfred Burnett, Kenneth Burnett and sister, Jessie Nott.
Alice is survived by her sister, Doris Garrett & husband Allen, of Wichita, KS; sister-in-laws, Nadine Burnett, of Council Grove, KS and Betty Burnett, of Webster, TX; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at the Council Grove United Methodist Church, with Pastor Larry Buss officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, the 28th, at the Council Grove United Methodist Church.
