Dr Charles Fincher Gary was born on 26 September 1799 in Newberry, South Carolina, to Thomas West Gary and his wife Rebecca A Jones. Charles married Mary Simpson Griffin. They had eight children: Martin Jones, Rebecca Jane, Kitty Griffin, Amanda, Philometha A, Duff E, Antho T, and Mary Charles. Their oldest son died young. Dr Charles Fincher Gary died, 14 July 1851, aged 51, and was buried at the Gary Family Cemetery in Newberry County, South Carolina.
