Harold Wright
Harold S. Wright, 92, of Granite City, died at 7:45 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2008, in Wood River.
He was born May 2, 1915, in Corning, Ark. Mr. Wright was a member of the Third Street Baptist Church; retired from Granite City Steel after 30 years of service; and was a U.S. Army Air Corps World War II veteran.He married the former Opal Groves on Feb. 4, 1945. She survives after 63 years of marriage.
Other survivors include two sons, Gary (Lora) Wright of Wood River and Randy (Coleen) Wright of Granite City; one daughter, Phyllis (Allen) Wright of Victorville, Calif.; two brothers, Milburn Wright of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. and Don Wright of Florida; two sisters, Loretta McGee of Bradenton, Fla. and Florence Wright of Michigan; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Martin Wright; his parents, Ollie and Dollie (Walker) Wright; five brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon, today, March 12, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City.
Funeral services will be at noon, March 12, at the funeral home with the Rev. Clint Wisdom officiating.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
