George Gregson, aged 76 years, 10 months and 21 days, passed away last Friday afternoon at the home of his oldest daughter, Mrs. Philip Benedick, four miles southwest of Red Bud.
Two weeks ago on Thursday, he suffered a stroke of paralysis, after which time he continued to grow worse.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, August 19th, from the Philip Benedick residence to the St. John's Catholic church, after which the remains were laid to rest at the Catholic cemetery here. Rev. Stern conducted the services.
Mr. Gregson was born Sept. 26, 1857, and spent practically all his life in Round Prairie where he was engaged in farming. Two weeks ago he went to make his home with the Benedick family.
He was united in marriage with Miss Louisa Dehn in 1881, and to this union six children were born, one daughter, Sylvia, died seven years ago. Mrs. Gregson passed away forty-one years ago.
He is survived by five children: Mrs. Philip Benedick of Red Bud, Raymond Gregson of Farmer City, Ill., Walter of Red Bud, Mrs. Edna Rist of Waterloo and George of Red Bud; also the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Mary Threfall of Mayfield, Kan., Mrs. Anna Braun of Decatur, Ill., Mrs. Sarah Rennecker of Red Bud, William Gregson of Hecker, Mrs. Alice Frick of Red Bud, Joe Gregson of Hecker and Arch Gregson of Baldwin. - Red Bud Pilgrim
