Mary died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona following a courageous battle with cancer.
A memorial fund has been established for the Kalona Park Board, United Christian and Baptist Church and Iowa City Hospice.
Mary Kinsinger was born July 21, 1927 in rural Kalona the daughter of Lando and Verna (Hershberger) Gingerich. She graduated from Kalona High School and received her teaching certificate from Cornell College. She was united in marriage to Vernon "Hoppy" Kinsinger on October 27, 1946 in Indiana. Mary worked at Proctor and Gamble in Iowa City for 16 years, was a secretary at the Kalona Dental Office for eight years and Hochstedler Insurance in Kalona for 20 years and was bookkeeper for Kinsinger Construction and K & K Sanitation in Kalona for many years. Mary was a member of the United Christian and Baptist Church, Iowa City Women's Bowling Association for 40 years, Kalona Park Board, served as a volunteer at Pleasantview Home for 10 years and attended the Washington County Cancer Survivors Support Group.
Survivors include her husband Vernon "Hoppy" Kinsinger of Wellman, IA, three children and spouses, Bev (Tim) Colbert of Riverside, IA, Sue (Tracy) Janecek of Washington, IA, Bob (Sue) Kinsinger of Riverside, IA, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two brothers, Lando (Gladys) Gingerich, Jr. of Morris, IL, Richard (Rose) Gingerich of Springfield, MO, one sister, Jenny Hotz of Mukwonago, WI, two sisters in law, Shirley Gingerich of Goshen, IN, Maxine Gingerich of Johnson City, TN, two brothers in law, Duane (Sandy) Yoder of Newton, IA, Orval Kinsinger of Iowa City and a special family friend, Diana Conwell of Anamosa, IA
Preceding Mary in death were her parents, three brothers, Roman, Marvin and Eli Gingerich, two sisters, Ella Weaver Maupin and Viola Yoder and one sister in law, Orthella Reece.
