Alf was the son of Gabriel Martinius Andreasen Holte and Mathilda Nelson.
He had six siblings: Arthur Thomas, Stella, Ole, Gladys Myrtle, Clara Margaret, and Norman Severt.
Alf married Luella Irene Lindberg on October 30, 1944.
They were the parents of two children: Richard Allen and Marjorie Jane.

Alf Spencer Holte, 86, died Saturday, April 6, 2002 at Clearwater County Memorial Hospital in Bagley.
He was born July 6, 1915 in Eddy Township to parents, Gabriel and Mathilda Holte. He was baptized and confirmed by Rev. Nesseth. He attended Riverside School District 54 and also attended agricultural school in Crookston. He married Luella Lindberg Oct. 30, 1944. They had two children, Richard and Margie. He farmed in the Weme area until 1968 when they moved to Corvallis, Ore. In Corvallis Alf was employed by the Corvallis School District from which he retired in 1983. After retirement he and Luella returned to the Bagley area.
Alf was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Bagley. He was active in the Bagley Garden Club and did volunteer work at the Senior Citizens Center.
Survivors include son Richard (Joyce) Holte of Colorado; daughter, Margie (Oscar) Koboski of Washington; sister, Clara West of Arizona; brother, Norman Holte of Mankato, Minn; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Luella; brothers, Arthur Holte, Ole Holte; and sisters, Stella Uppman and Gladys Anderson.
Funeral services were Friday, April 12 at Our Savior's Church with Pastor Shawn Stafford officiating. Burial was at the Oak Park Cemetery. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
