Biography:

Mrs. Violet Irene Thompson, D.D., 89, of Pineville, Missouri entered into Glory on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at the Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri after a recent illness.

Violet began her earthly journey on September 1, 1920 in Scobey, Montana daughter of the late Clerance P. and Alvina (Ohman) Fisher.

On May 16, 1942 she was united in marriage to Clifford Caleb Thompson and to this union two daughters were born.

She served well in many capacities of ministry throughout her life. She helped build the Tri-City Christian School, teaching grades first through sixth. She was an excellent wife and a great mother to all the children, grandchildren and great grand children and was a special loving friend to all whom she came in contact with.

She was a woman of great faith and prayer. She was a Bible College honors graduate and was awarded a Doctor of Divinity Degree. Violet is now rejoicing with her wonderful Redeemer, The Lord Jesus Christ. She has fought a good fight, she has finished her course, she has kept the faith and has been given a crown of righteousness.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Ralph, Elmer, Ted, Marion and Ray Fisher; and a sister, Edith Fisher Anderson.

Violet is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Dr. Clifford Caleb "C.C." Thompson of the home; two daughters, Marlaine Jean Clay and husband, Larry J. and Faith Irene Armstrong and husband, Jim, all of Pineville, Missouri; five grandchildren, Darren Clay, Jason Clay, Todd Clay, Cheri Cowin and Cindy Sutherland; ten great grandchildren, Sierra Clay, Savannah Clay, Paton Clay, Joshua Clay, Bekah Clay, Levi Clay, Hannah Cowin, Matthew Cowin, Chloe Sutherland and Luke Sutherland; two step great grandchildren, Natasha O'Brien and Tessa Robertson; two brothers, Ben Fisher of Vancouver, Washington and Ardeen Fisher of Havre, Montana; two sisters, Betty Ross and Mary McKinney both of Great Falls, Montana; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Thompson are 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the Tri-City Worship Center in Pineville, Missouri with Jim Armstrong, Randy Davis and Ken Cowin officiating.

Burial will follow in the Pineville Cemetery.

Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Darren Clay, Jason Clay, Todd Clay, Larry Clay, Joel Sutherland and Daniel Cowin.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes.
