Ben Sims, son of Seaborn Sims, was born at Longville, Lancaster county, September 15th, 1887; died June 6th, 1908, about 10 o’clock in the morning at his home in Rich Hill section. He was married in November 1904, to Miss Almetta Crimminger, daughter of Mr. R.F. Crimminger of Heath Springs, who survived him, and one child. He had been sick only a short while and in spite of all medical treatment and good attention could be done, he passed away. The Lord who gave him took him away.

A precious one from us is gone,
A voice we loved is still;
A place is vacant in our homes,
Which never can be filled.

Dearest brother, thou hast left us
Left us, yes forever more,
But we hope to meet thee
Upon that bright and shining shore.

We loved thee dear brother, yes we loved you;
But Jesus loved you more,
And he has sweetly called you,
To yonder shining shore.

The golden gates were opened,
A gentle voice said, “come”,
And with farewell unspoken,
You have calmly entered home.

Farewell, dear brother, farewell, for on
Earth we cannot greet thee,
For thy soul hath roamed afar,
Yet in Heaven we hope to meet thee,
After we have crossed the Bar.

Go to thy rest, dear Ben,
In thy grave so low,
We would not call thee back, dear Ben,
For thou art at home, we know.
