Ernest C. Giffen, Britannia Sales Manager, Dies
Ernest C. Giffen, 78, of 612 S. Madison, sales manager for Encyclopedia Britannica, died Saturday.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at DeVorss-Gard Mortuary. Burial will be in Wichita Park Cemetery.
Born at Newcastle, Ohio, he had lived here since 1946. He was state superintendent of schools in South Dakota before coming here. He taught school here before going with Encyclopedia Britannica.
He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Sally Bowers, Milwaukee, Ore.; a son, Dean, Prairie Village, Kan.; and a brother, Charles. Newcastle.
