Died
At the home of her daughter, on Spring street, on Monday evening, April 7, Magdalena Brandes, aged 79 years. The deceased was born in Oberhagan, Hanover, Germany, April 16, 1823 where she grew to womanhood and was married May 11, 1850 to Aug. Brandes. In 1869, she came to America with her husband and located at Calvary, Fond du lac county, where they remained two years and then moved into the town of Rantoul, this county, where they purchased a farm. In 1898 they disposed of their farm and took up residency in this city. Some four years ago her husband died and since that time Mrs. Brandes has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. August Keller. She was apparently in good health until Saturday morning last, when she complained of not feeling well and grew gradually worse until death came at 11 o'clock on Monday evening. Three sons and three daughters survive her. The funeral took place on Thursday from the Ebenezer church, Rev. Wm. A. Arpke , officiating. The remains were laid to rest at Breed cemetery. Mrs. Brandes was well liked by her neighbors and friends.
