Archibald W. Burdette was born September 8th, 1845, in Monroe county, West Virginia. He professed faith in Christ as his Saviour and united with the Baptist church. He was married to Margaret T. Connor and to this union eleven children were born, six boys and five girls. The girls and mother preceded him to their eternal home. He came to Kansas in 1905 and united with the Baptist church at Lyons, Kansas, where he held his membership until he was called to his heavenly home which occurred Sunday March 21st at 5:30 p m. at Topeka, Kansas. The funeral service was conducted Tuesday March 23rd at Conwell's Funeral Home by O. L. Weir, pastor of the North Topeka Baptist church and his body was laid to rest in the Topeka cemetery. All of his sons were present at the funeral: Ira of Lyons, Ks., and Perry, James, Charles, Frank and Homer of Herington.
