Alderson, May 4 - Mrs Lucy R B Ellison, who for many years made her home in Alderson, died at the home of Mr and Mrs M D Jones, on Wolf Creek, yesterday morning at 8:45 o'clock, of Bright's disease, after a long illness. Mrs Ellison lacked but one month of being 64 years of age and had been married three times. Her first husband was Henry Shanklin, her second William Riner and she then married William Ellison, who died here a few years ago. Her maiden name was Burdette and she was a sister of Mr Robert Burdette, of Wolf Creek.

Lucy was first married to Patrick Henry Shanklin on September 14, 1869 in Monroe County, West Virginia. Henry was born on July 21, 1822, died before 1880. Henry was previously married to Emmeline Burdette on December 29, 1852 in Monroe County, Wset Virginia, and to Valeria Morrison DeBussey on April 7, 1864 in Putnam County, West Virginia.

After Henry died, Lucy remarried to William C. Riner on February 14, 1894 in Wolf Creek, Monroe County, West Virginia. After William's death in 1895, she married William L. Ellison on June 30, 1901 in Greenbrier County, West Virginia. Lucy next married Henry Thompson on April 12, 1905 in Greenbrier County, West Virginia. Lucy and Henry were divorced by 1910.

Lucy was born in June 1837, according to the 1900 census. She was living in Wolf Creek District, Monroe County, West Virginia in 1900 with tenants Louvenia Frances "Fannie" Trout and Rufus Clark Lemons listed in her household. The 1900 census states that she had no children. She was living with her niece Lucy Edgar Baker Jones in Wolf Creek, Monroe County, West Virginia in 1910.
