Pete Langstraat, 82, died March 13 at the New Sharon Care Center. He was born April 10, 1896, in Taintor to Leonard and Agnes Lucas Langstraat. He married the former Minnie Kool in 1920 and farmed near Taintor until 1955, when he moved to New Sharon.

He is survived by his wife, daughters Agnes (Mrs. Marion L.) Roorda of Pella; Anna (Mrs. Lloyd) Williams of New Sharon; sons Leonard P. of Knoxville; Anthony F. of Pella; Henry J. and Wilbur J. of New Sharon; 25 grandchildren and 28 great-grand-children.

He is also survived by brothers Jake of Prairie City; Herman L. of Tucson, Ariz; Paul L. and John L. of Knoxville; Corney L. of Eddyville; Leonard L. of Bussey; Dick L. of Oskaloosa; and sisters Mrs. Sara Cotten of Santa Monica, Calif.; Mrs. Pete Pol and Mrs. Pete Van Ham of Pella; Mrs. P.K. DeJong of Knoxville; Mrs. John Nunnikhoven of Pella and Mrs. John DeJong of Greenville, S.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, one daughter-inlaw and two great-grandsons.

He was a World War I Army veteran.

Services were held March 16 at the United Methodist Church in New Sharon with the Rev. Scott Woodworth presiding. Interment was in Friends Cemetery in New Sharon.

Hardin Funeral Home in New Sharon had charge of arrangements.
