Dau of Jephtha & Mary Ann (HESS) MARTIN; her paternal grandmother was Susan (BLACK) MARTIN. Susan had red hair and blue eyes. She grew up in Ohio, both in Montgomery twp, Marion Co OH and Round Head twp, Hardin Co OH.
After their 1876 marriage, she & Aaron moved to Neosho Co KS before May 1879. Their 9 children were born during their moving between Hardin Co OH, Neosha Co KS and Allen Co OH.
DEATH: Certificate of Death; DEATH-CAUSE: "Brainatic Injury: Susan had gone to South Bend by bus, then taking a taxi from the station, to the home of her son, (Jeptha) Raymond SEITZ, to surprise him in honor of his birthday. The taxi was hit by a car, injuring her -- she was taken to the hospital in an unconscious condition. Raymond knew nothing of the accident until that evening when a neighbor girl came in to investigate an article in a newspaper which read, Mrs Raymond SEITZ (sic: correction: Mrs. Aaron SEITZ) was in the hospital. Raymond went to the hospital to investigate and there found his mother. She had rallied only enough to give her son's name and address. She had twenty-seven grandchildren at time of death.
