Cyrus LaRue was born at Zanesville, Ohio, March 23, 1837, and died at his old
home near Menlo, Iowa, Jan. 23, 1928, aged 90 years, 10 months and 5 days.
He came at the age of 12 with his parents to Iowa, they settling near
Atalissa.
He was married to Mary Jane Burnett in 1860. They made their home near
Atalissa for a number of years. Then they moved to Adair county, which has
been the home for 45 years.
The family consisted of eleven children, two of whom, George and Mary, died in
infancy. Andrew preceded him more than four years. Those remaining to mourn
his loss are: Alvy of West Branch, Iowa; Will of Michigan; John of Missouri;
Ross of Canada; Sadie Aikens of North Prairie, Wis.; Nan Burnett of Austin,
Minn.; Nora Elzey of Marshalltown, Iowa; and Earl at the old home.
Funeral services were held at his late home on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., conducted
by a former pastor, Rev. Young, of Stuart. The remains were brought to Cedar
county Pedee cemetery for burial beside the little children and the wife who
passed away twenty years ago.
Brief services at the grave were conducted by Rev. H. D. Green.
